AGENDA & HOMEWORK -

Honors/Gifted Biology - Dr. Gottfried -

You want to read the "Don't Panic" document -

There is also now a list of Latin & Greek prefixes, suffixes and stems which may help with vocabulary.

This version of the web page, hosted on mdgottfried.net may not have all the old links.
If you need an old link from the agenda go back to http://mdgottfried.tripod.com

Text book CD Access

OnLine Biology Book from Maricopa (Arizona) Community College (Lower than AP Bio, but above Honors Biology) really good background and review).

Writing lab reports (general format and suggestions)

This course is correlated to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards which can be found at:http://www.floridastandards.org/Standards/FLStandardSearch.aspx

In general we will be following the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Pacing Guide for Honors Biology.
Those documents can be found at http://curriculum_materials.dadeschools.net/pacing_guides/

The objectitves in abstracted/pacing guide format, in rough order can be found  HBioObjectives-FallSemester2011-12.pdf
You need a reader for Adobe pdf files, which can be obtained for free from www.adobe.com

We need aluminum soda cans (rinsed) for a lab 11/22, 23; No extra credit, but, if you don’t bring in the cans you don’t do the lab (it involves fire), but get to watch it as a demonstration….The more cans, the more you do. Theoretically, we could use 3x6x6 (3 classes x 6 lab stations x 6 cans) = 108 cans, and as of 11/10 I have 54. (No, I don’t need the pull tabs).

If you need community service hours Volunteer opportunities at Oleta. Students will help plant mangroves and clear invasive species, such as Australian pine and Burma reed. They can come Saturdays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Students need to complete a registration form, they can request one from their counsellors at student services. They bring the forms to the front gate along with photo identification and parent's consent if they are under 18. Please inform the students to bring the forms prior to volunteering so the park can process their information.
